Wheat pennies are another historical special coin that Americans went crazy over more than a century ago. For those dedicated vintage penny collectors’ information, wheat pennies will only sell for a high amount if they happened to have some unusual minting error. Otherwise, you probably won’t get much for them, even if you have a large pile of the discs. Something like the “Holy Grail” of wheat pennies, the 1909-S VDB, will earn you a handsome sum.
